No Way Home ended by removing every support Peter Parker had accumulated. His friends forgot him. The technology disappeared. Even his identity stopped opening doors. Brand New Day makes the correct choice and treats that ending as a condition, not a problem to reverse in the first act.
Peter is now Spider-Man full-time because Spider-Man is the only part of his life that still has a clear purpose. The arrangement looks like freedom from a distance. It is closer to avoidance. He can keep moving as long as nobody asks who he is when the mask comes off.
The film works best when it keeps that scale small. New York is not a portal to another universe. It is rent, distance, damaged streets, and people Peter can still see but no longer claim. After three films of expanding machinery, the useful move is subtraction.
The new threat is someone nobody can see. It is an efficient idea because Peter has become socially invisible too. He saves people who cannot know what the work costs him, then returns to a room where nobody is waiting. The parallel is simple, but the film does not need to explain it twice.
Brand New Day still carries the weight of a large Marvel production, and not every part of it wants to stay at street level. But its central decision holds. Peter Parker becomes interesting again when being Spider-Man is not access to a larger world. It is the difficult thing he does when the larger world has left.
